Norris Continues Growth of Furniture, Pain Relief Businesses

Tracy Norris, owner of Norris Enterprises, is definitely doing something right.
But ask Norris and he'll credit just abut anyone but himself for the success of Norris Enterprises - which encompasses three separate businesses, Norris Chiropractic Clinic, iFurn.com, an Internet furniture business, and PainReliever.com®, an Internet business that sells pain relieving products.
Norris says loyal and dedicated employees make the difference in his company.
"Whether it's packing and shipping, customer service, marketing, Web design - my staff is what makes my company grow, not me," he says. "It's not my brilliance, it's their brilliance. I just sit in meetings and listen to my employees' great ideas."
Norris Enterprises is receiving its fifth Metro Award in as many years. The company has nearly five times as many employees as it had in 2002 and has quadrupled sales in 2004.
When Norris felt limited by his income as a Chiropractor, he decided to diversify and break into the Internet sales business. He began offering pain-relieving products that he sold at his clinic, then expanded as sales grew.
With the clinic and pain reliever businesses underway, Norris decided to expand again and tried a completely different type of Internet sales business - furniture.
"Against my friends' advice, I started the furniture business," says Norris. "They just couldn't comprehend why anyone would want to buy furniture online when you can't see or feel or touch it."
But Norris's furniture hunch turned out to be right and the company now attracts huge markets such as governmental agencies, school systems and large companies.
Norris was ecstatic to learn iFurn.com had outold both Target.com and Walmart.com in certain brands of furniture last year.
"They don't have the selection we can offer," says Norris. "We can offer everything. Every shade and size, they're very limited."
Norris and his staff research the popular brand names, attend shows and persistently seek out new lines to carry.
"We have a great team of people," says Norris. "We spend several weeks a year at shows, making contacts, getting ideas."
All three businesses operate out of the building at 2081 N. Webb Road. Norris is remodeling the facility and expanding the warehouse to accomodate his companies' growth.
